Video Review: THIRTEEN REASONS WHY (Book AND Show review!)

The benefit of putting off reading an amazing story for a decade is that when I finally had a chance to read it, I could immediately watch the Netflix series adaptation. That’s what happened with Jay Asher’sĀ Thirteen Reasons Why, which has been creating a storm on Netflix, and for good reason. In case you’ve been living under a rock, this is the story about events that led to a teenager’s suicide, after which she leaves tapes behind explaining thirteen reasons (people) that helped her reach this decision. When kind and polite Clay Jensen receives these tapes, meaning he is one of the reasons his crush is gone, he begins his journey of unraveling Hannah Baker’s story. The story is predictably heartbreaking and soul-crushing, but also a bit mysterious and tragically romantic.

As always, this video review begins spoiler-free and contains a warning before going into spoilers from both the book and the show. There are also some major triggers in this video, as I’m discussing a story explaining events that tore a girl down to complete hopelessness.

Overall, this story was a realistic story of a girl who kept getting knocked down to the point she couldn’t get back up, eventually not even willing to try anymore.

If you’ve read the the book and/or watched the show, let us know what you thought and if you agree or disagree with some of my views!
