The residents of the New York Institute and their friends are returning a little earlier than expected!
With Season 1 and 2 both premiering in January, Shadowhunters fans were pretty bummed to hear that Season 3 wouldn’t be hitting TV screens until April (even if they’re getting an extra 10 episodes in the process.) But yesterday, there was some exciting news to ease their pain!
The official Shadowhunters social media accounts shared a new release date for the show that’s slightly closer, but also moves the air date to a new Tuesday schedule:
New year, new date. #ShadowhuntersSeason3 is coming sooner than you thought. See you on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. pic.twitter.com/0nbvlnlF40

TVLine also released an exclusive look at the new season, including Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.) and his new rival Lorenzo Rey (Hamilton‘s Javier Munoz) both behind-the-scenes and on-screen. There’s also a still of Clary (Katherine McNamara) and Jace (Dominic Sherwood) deep in conversation. Take a look!
Shadowhunters returns to Freeform on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
