Marvel’s IRON FIST Casts GAME OF THRONES Actor In Lead Role

Finn Jones is Marvel’s new IRON FIST for Netflix series!

Marvel has cast its fourth Netflix television series lead– Game of Thrones‘ Finn Jones will play Iron Fist, completing The Defenders line-up, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Iron Fist aka Danny Rand is a martial arts master taught in the secret city of K’un L’un after a dangerous mission there leads to his father’s death. Now, Rand has returned to New York City as an adult with plans to take down his father’s former business partner and murderer, Harold Meachum of Meachum Industries. In the process, he starts a fight that he may not be able to handle alone.

The casting is causing some Internet rumblings already. Though Daniel Rand is Caucasian in the comics, it’s not a necessary aspect for the character, who is heavily steeped in Asian lore– much like his also-white big screen comparison in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange. Many hoped that Marvel would take the opportunity to diversify the martial arts hero.

Finn Jones plays Ser Loras Tyrell on HBO’s popular series Game of Thrones.

Marvel and Netflix will debut Iron Fist after Luke Cage, probably sometime in 2017. The series will be followed by The Defenders team-up with Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Daredevil.
