Elementary’s Lucy Liu has been announced by Marvel as director of Netflix’s LUKE CAGE season 2 premiere episode.
Yes! Charlie’s Angels star Lucy Liu will be directing the Luke Cage season 2 premiere, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about this!
Liu, who made her acting debut in an episode of the original Beverly Hills, 90210 series, and has made a name for herself in both TV (Ally McBeal, SouthLAnd, Elementary) and film (Charlie’s Angels, Kill Bill: Vol 1 & Kill Bill: Vol 2), has already directed four episodes of Elementary, so she is familiar with the process.
As far as the people behind Luke Cage are concerned, they have nothing but good things and excitement to say about it:
“Lucy and I have been tight since our ‘SouthLAnd’ days and she’s a welcome addition to our Luke Cage family. She brings the same buoyant intensity, deft humor, and singular focus to her directing that she has always brought to her acting….not to mention the fact that the former ‘O’Ren Ishii’ certainly knows her way around an action sequence,” said series executive producer and showrunner, Cheo Hodari Coker. “Her enthusiasm is infectious.”
The way things are sounding, it’s Marvel and Netflix could bring her back to direct more episodes of Luke Cage or any of the other Marvel-related shows.
“When you’re dealing with a bulletproof man, it helps if you have a bulletproof Director,” said executive producer Jeph Loeb. “Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors. She is rocking Luke Cage 2.”
Luke Cage season 2 will premiere sometimes in 2018.
