Jensen Ackles Wants to do a SUPERNATURAL Road Show

Could a road show be possible for Supernatural?

Actor Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) wants to do a road show for the CW’s popular series, Supernatural.  Considering the amount of traveling the Winchester brothers do in the actual series, you’d think that’s what they’ve been doing these past 10 years.  Unfortunately, that’s not the case.  All episodes are filmed in the same place – Vancouver, British Columbia.

Now, it’s not that Vancouver is not a great place to film a long-running show.  Many a great shows have been filmed there (*ahem* The X-Files).  But I think that after filming the same series for 10 years, there’s probably a bit of that “cabin fever” feeling.  And when you have to imagine you’re actually driving across the country, hitting one city after another, you’d probably actually want to experience what your characters experience.

So, it’s not surprising that Mr. Ackles would come up with the idea of doing a road show.  Especially the way he explains it:

“I think it would be a lot of fun if we took a handful of episodes, maybe half a dozen at the most, and we did an actual road trip show, where we went from town to town and we took a small crew and we actually did like, uh, ya know, like a road show.  I think that would be a real fun time.”

I wholeheartedly agree with him on this.  Sure, it would probably cost a bit more to make that happen, but even if were even three episodes instead of six, it would be cool for them to do and we’d probably see a different sort of energy on screen in those episodes.  Maybe they’d be able to drive their way down the Pacific Coast Highway… maybe hit San Diego during Comic-Con week or something.  Like, they would have to solve a weird goings on among the weird goings on that happens at Comic-Con.  Right?

Yeah, yeah, I know they did that sort of comic-con-ny thing before.  But still, San Diego would be a perfect place for one of their road show stops!

Ackles, along with co-star Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) talk about the success of the show and the writers’ involvement in that success.

“We have some phenomenally talented writers. Otherwise we wouldn’t have traveled this far. And so I’m looking forward to see what they think up. I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the ride because they are going places I never would have dreamt,” said Padalecki.

True words.  But I have to add that without those two chemistry on screen, along with the other actors that have joined them along the way, the show would probably not have lasted as long as it has.

And as Jensen stated, “It’s still going and we’re happy to be a part of it.”

We are, too, boys.  We are, too.

And speaking of road shows, check out this video on the show’s un-credited co-star, the Impala.
