CONSTANTINE Revived as Animated Series

CONSTANTINE is definitely coming back to life, but this time as an animated series on The CW’s online network.

For those who were fans of NBC’s DC-based series, Constantine, it was disappointing to see it dropped by the major network, but not surprising. Given the low viewership numbers, they didn’t want to give it a big enough chance. However, many are pretty sure it would’ve done better on a network that really supported such shows, say, one like the CW.

It was proven by Matt Ryan‘s cameo appearance as the title character on the CW’s Arrow that Constantine still had some weight, and if you’re like us, you had hopes that the CW would take over the show, similar like it did to Supergirl.

Well, we didn’t get our exact wish, because although Constantine is coming back, he’s coming back as an animated series. Not only that, it will be on the CW’s online network, CW Seed. And according to reports, Ryan will still be the voice, if not the literal face, of John Constantine.

The animated series will consist of five or six 10-minute episodes that will premiere during the 2017-18 TV season. On CW Seed, Constantine joins fellow animated DC Comics series Vixen, which launched its second season in October. Additionally, the 13 episodes of the live-action Constantine drama are available for streaming on CW Seed.

David S. Goyer, who helped adapt the NBC series, will co-executive produce with The Flash’s EP Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
