BLACK LIGHTNING Announces Official Premiere Date

Find out when you can get your first surge of BLACK LIGHTNING!

The CW is expanding its DC superhero line-up this winter with the release of the Black Lightning series, and now the show has an official premiere date and time slot!

Cress Williams stars as Jefferson Pierce aka Black Lightning, a superhero with the ability to manipulate electrical currents, control force fields, and even do a bit of flying. He hung up his superhero suit long ago in favor of becoming a principal, but times change– particularly when a star student joins a gang and his teen daughter finds herself in trouble. Jefferson realizes Black Lightning is needed once again.

Thanks to Deadline, we now know that the show is due to premiere on January 16, 2018, in a Tuesday time slot just behind trusty DC TV regular The Flash. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which previously followed The Flash, will get a February return in a new time slot.

Black Lightning also stars Nafessa Williams, China Anne McLain, Christine Adams, Marvin ‘Krondon’ Jones III, Chantal Thuy, Jill Scott, and more. The show runners are Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil, and the show is produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
