HARRY POTTER (Harry Potter)
Brief Summary (spoilers)

By RavenSetFree
Harry James Potter (b. 31 July 1980) was a half-blood wizard, the only child and son of James Potter and Lily Potter (née Evans), and one of the most famous wizards of modern times. In what proved to be a vain attempt to circumvent a prophecy that a boy born at the end of July of 1980 would be able to defeat him, Voldemort tried to murder him when he was a year and three months exactly after murdering Harry’s parents as they tried to protect him. One consequence of Lily’s protection is that her orphaned son had to be raised by her only remaining blood relative, with her Muggle sister Petunia’s family, where he was neither welcomed nor nurtured, but would stay alive, until he was seventeen years old. As the only known survivor of the Killing Curse up to that point, Harry was already famous before he arrived at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Early on his eleventh birthday, Harry learned that he was a wizard. He began attending Hogwarts and was Sorted into Gryffindor house. He became the youngest Quidditch Seeker in over a century and eventually captain of his house’s team.He became even better known in his early years for protecting the Philosopher’s Stone from Voldemort and saving Ron’s sister Ginny Weasley from the Chamber of Secrets. In his fourth year, Harry won the Triwizard Tournament. The next school year, Harry reluctantly founded Dumbledore’s Army and fought in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, during which he lost his godfather.
Harry played a significant role in the Second Wizarding War and hunted down and destroyed Voldemort’s Horcruxes with Ron and Hermione. He encountered Voldemort and sacrificed himself. When told he could choose to live or to “move on,” Harry chose to live, and after he awoke he confronted Voldemort, and defeated him.
Harry is also notable for being the only known Master of Death, having united the three Deathly Hallows.

Why we like him
The books are told from Harry’s point of view, and so the audience knows more about him- his personal thoughts, his achievements, and his failures- than any other character. Harry has always been likable. He’s the underdog, he’s full of dry humour and wit, and he’s a true Gryffindor. He ranks as one of the bravest characters in the series. He’s constantly having to overcome hostility: his dreadful aunt and uncle, Professor Snape, who seems to hate him for no reason, Draco Malfoy, and of course, Voldemort, not to mention the strange looks he tends to get from being “The Boy Who Lived” and “The Chosen One.” Great responsibility was thrust on Harry from a young age and yet he managed it. He managed to defeat the most powerful dark wizard of all time. Apart from that, we as readers connect with Harry. Apart from having to save the world, he’s a normal teenage boy. He has romantic interactions and he has exams and he plays Quidditch exceedingly well. Harry’s just all-around likeable. – artysgirl
NICO DI ANGELO (Percy Jackson)
Brief Summary (spoilers)

art by germanmissiles
Nico Di Angelo… How do I begin to explain Nico Di Angelo?
Nico Di Angelo is flawless.
Well, apart from his one fatal flaw of holding grudges, inherited directly from his father- Hades.
With black, slightly messy hair, intense dark eyes and a perfect olive complexion, Nico is most definitely worthy of your fangirling.
A truly badass son of Hades, God of the Dead, Nico is capable of raising an army of skeletons whenever the mood strikes him. He can talk to ghosts. He can travel from one shadow to another. Did I mention that it also works if one shadow is in Nepal and one’s in New Zealand?
But there is a slightly darker (no pun intended) side to our young demigod. After losing his sister, the only person who he cared about, at the age of only ten, he lost faith in Camp Half-Blood and Percy Jackson. Once an eager young boy, ready and willing to experience everything Camp Half-Blood had to offer, his sister’s death truly changed him.
It was revealed that Nico was born before the pact of the Big Three was made, and he spent the vast majority of his life in the Lotus Hotel and Casino to protect him from the wrath of Zeus. He and his sister were imprisoned amongst the luxuries for over seventy years without aging, before being released by Alecto, a Kindly One.
Having tasked Percy with ensuring his sister Bianca’s safe return, Nico Di Angelo was enraged when she was not among those returning from the quest. Unwilling or emotionally incapable of hearing Percy’s soothing words and humble apologies, Nico Di Angelo refused to remain at the Camp for a moment longer. Not even undead warriors attacking could cause him to stay. He quickly banished the skeletal mercenaries back to the realm of his father; a place to which he himself would shortly venture.
Nico set off on his own for quite some time, avoiding most living people. Desperate to speak to his sister one last time, he attempted time after time to summon her spirit. But instead of the kind and loving Bianca Di Angelo, Nico summoned King Minos- an infamous mortal man.
When King Minos attempted to raise himself from the grave with an army of dead (and deadly) minions, he made one fatal mistake. He tried to declare himself the Ghost King. He and his army were destroyed single-handedly by none other than our dark hero, Nico Di Angelo, who declared himself as the true Ghost King.
Though he chose to remain away from camp, he did not abandon the other half-bloods. He fought in every battle held at the camp, risking his life to protect them, when his father was not even given the privilege of having a cabin in the name of Hades.
Nico’s heroism did not end there, however. He devised, researched, and executed the plan that led to Percy’s invulnerability. He betrayed his own father, on risk of being sent to the Fields of Punishment, to assist Percy in accomplishing his goal.
Without Nico’s heroism, Kronos would never have been defeated. And with Gaia rising, Nico’s intelligence and power will be essential to the second war.
Funny, an outsider, and a little sarcastic, Nico deserves your vote.
YES YOU sitting there going “I really can’t be bothered voting”
YOU, staring at your computer screen thinking “I would rather vote for *insert completely inferior character here*”
YOU need to sort out your priorities, and vote for the most utterly, completely, fabulously, incredibly, totally, absolutely, and truly most epic character ever to be formed of the written word.
There is only one epic character that deserves the crown. And that, ladies, gentlemen, demigods, shadowhunters, witches, wizards, magical beasts, goblins, ghosts, hobbits, elves, dragon riders, children of the night, moon, Lilith and faerie, is Nico Di Angelo, the Ghost King.
Why We Like Him

Nico Di Angelo, the goth kid that no one understands – or so you think! Yeah, sure he’s got a mean pout face, but deep down Nico is the heart of the operation. It’s Nico that comes up with the plan to make Percy invincible and Nico who unforgettably saves the day with his legions of the dead. Yeah sure, it’s creepy but who’s never wanted hoards of minions to do your bidding… Ok the dead part is still a little creepy. Under that tough exterior is the same kid that used to play Mythomagic, he’s just grown up a little. Nico deals with a lot and that’s why I dub him one of the most epic characters. It’s not about what you go through, but how you handle it afterwards, and I think Nico is doing a mighty fine job. – thefandompjadmins
Poor guy’s been through a lot and all I want to do is give him a hug. – Burdge-bug
