Will Smith May Play Genie in Live-Action ALADDIN

Will Smith is is talks to play the Genie in the live-action ALADDIN!

The live-action Aladdin started its casting search last month, when Disney announced that they would be having a world wide open casting call for their two lead characters. Now, more casting news has popped up. The Hollywood Reporter announced today that Will Smith is in talks to play Genie in the movie.

The Genie was voiced in the original film by the late Robin Williams, and the character was a fan favourite. Smith was in talks for a role in a live-action Dumbo movie, but no deal ever came about. And now that Smith’s other project, Bad Boy 3, has been tabled due to the loss of their director, he will have time to play the magical character.

Dan Lin, who produced the Sherlock Holmes movie for Warner Bros., is producing Aladdin, along with Jonathan Eirich as executive producer. Guy Ritchie, who directed Sherlock Holmes, is set to direct the film.
