THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA Will Start “Brand New Franchise” With THE SILVER CHAIR

THE SILVER CHAIR set to bring audiences into a new Narnia!

The Chronicles of Narnia is headed back to the big screen, but not in a way that’s familiar to existing audiences.

Franchise producer Mark Gordon confirmed with Collider that The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair is in the works, but it will not feature the actors or team behind 2005’s The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, 2008’s Prince Caspian, or 2010’s Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

“No, it’s all going to be a brand new franchise. All original. All original characters, different directors, and an entire new team that this is coming from,” Gordon said, clarifying that the characters will be from the existing C.S. Lewis mythology.

That means a completely new look, feel, and cast for the series, which transferred hands from The Walden Group to The C.S. Lewis Company and The Mark Gordon Company in 2013 after a brief rights battle.

The Silver Chair tells the story of Eustace Scrubb and Jill Pole, two children recruited by Aslan to help a much older Prince Caspian find his missing sole heir, Prince Rilian. It’s an odd spot to relaunch the series as it’s the fourth book in the Narnia series and the sixth book in the chronology overall, but the new story may lead itself to the big changes.

No word yet on when the film will begin production but screenwriter David Magee recently confirmed that he’s finished a first draft of the script.
