Two-part finale have become a major trend in Hollywood franchises ever since Warner Bros made the decision to split up HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS in two films years ago. Rumor from The Daily Marvelite via Schmoes Know has it that Marvel will follow the trend with their biggest franchise.

From The Daily Marvelite:

Many thought that Avengers 3 will come four years after Age of Ultron, only to be rectified by Marvel studios president, Kevin Feige who hinted that the threequel will be released, as previously thought, in 2018, three years after Age of Ultron. Few days later the studio locked the May 4th of that same year for another untitled movie. According to our source, Marvel studios is considering the option (as of last year but have now made a decision) of having Earth’s mightiest heroes begin the battle in Avengers 3, coming out May 2018, only to be concluded in an untitled May 3rd 2019 movie.

Schmoes Know questioned whether or not the May 2019 movie will be part two of AVENGERS 3 or GUADRIANS OF THE GALAXY 3 featuring The Avengers, as characters from the GUARDIANS universe are crucial in finishing out the Infinity Gauntlet storyline that The Avengers are following. They also made a great point about how this harkens back to an earlier comment about future “merging of brands” brought up by Vin Diesel.

If nothing else, two-part finales tends to be huge earners for mega-franchises such as Marvels possesses. Would you be up for a major two-part finale?
