Ron Howard replaces Phil Lord and Chris Miller as Director on HAN SOLO Movie

Award-winning director Ron Howard has been officially signed on to direct the rest of the HAN SOLO movie.

It was a surprising turn of events for Star Wars fans everywhere when it was announced that Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired as the directors for the Han Solo project, especially so close to the end of principal photography. But it looks like those in charge didn’t stop until they found another director capable of finishing up the project, and they found that person. Ron Howard, director of The Da Vinci Code, A Beautiful Mind, and Rush, has been announced as the new director.

This will be interesting, seeing as this is somewhat not the type of movie that we can usually associate with Howard, however, it seems his presence is a positive one for the cast and crew, who have about a little over three weeks of filming left.

“Howard is considered to be a safe choice to complete the task, someone who will more than ably finish the movie while being a calming presence on set.”

We can only hope that Ron Howard, as talented as he is, can find the Force within himself to get this project back on track, and get everyone involved on the same page.

As for director credits, it hasn’t been specified if Lord and Miller’s name will be listed along with Howard’s. It could be a matter of making it the Directors Guild of America’s decision, probably in the likelihood that the production company, in this case Disney-Lucasfilm, and the directors involved don’t reach an amicable agreement. It could be months before we find out anything about that.

In the meantime, just be assured that they’re all still working hard to make this a successful film for an iconic and admired character.

The Untitled Han Solo Film is still set to be released May 25, 2018.
