Marvel Hires Screenwriter for Potential BLACK WIDOW Standalone Movie

It’s still too early in development to tell if this is going to be an actual greenlit project, but the timing may be right for a female-centric Marvel superheroine movie.

Nothing has been confirmed, but Variety posted the news stating that Marvel is looking into creating a superheroine solo movie for none other than Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, also known as Natasha Romanoff.

The movie has not been approved, or greenlit as those Hollywood people say, but it’s been years that fans have been asking for Black Widow’s light to shine and frankly, considering all the noise about women being the future and all, it makes sense that Marvel is taking this seriously.

Being that Johansson has played the Black Widow for the past 6 Marvel films (that’s a span of 7 years starting with Iron Man 2) and counting, we all know she can do the job pretty well.

Although Marvel has no comment about it, we’re hoping they’ll greenlight this sucker soon. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they wait until they see a script.

You can see Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, which comes out on May 4th.
