Killjoys Star Hannah John-Kamen Joins READY PLAYER ONE

British actress Hannah John-Kamen, star of the Syfy drama Killjoys, has been cast in the Steven Spielberg virtual reality film, Ready Player One.

Steven Spielberg starts shooting the movie adaptation of Ernest Cline’s bestselling novel Ready Player One very soon, and that means filling up the cast list with all the essential characters before production. We’ve already had announcements for pretty much all the major characters, but it was just announced today that Hannah John-Kamen will be joining the cast, although it hasn’t been stated what her role will be.

ready-player-one-cover-720x1094She’ll be joining Tye Sheridan in the main protagonist role as Wade Watts, Olivia Cooke as Samantha Evelyn Cook, T.J. Miller as i-R0k, Ben Mendelsohn as Nolan Sorrento, Win Morisaki as Daito, Mark Rylance as James Halliday, and Simon Pegg as Ogden Morrow.  With most of the major roles being taken, it’ll be interesting to see which one John-Kamen will take.  I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a virtual character in the name of Art3mis.

Hannah John-Kamen has already been busy outside of Ready Player One, starring in the Syfy series Killjoys, and having wrapped up the season finale episode for Netflix’s Black Mirror, the US version of a UK series of the same name.  She also had a recurring role in this season of HBO’s Game of Thrones as Ornela, one of the widowed khaleesi that Daenerys encounters in the Dosh Khaleen. Plus, you might’ve seen her briefly as a First Order Officer in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

According to an interview with EW‘s Anthony Breznican, Spielberg will start production of Ready Player One in July, with the movie scheduled to be released March 30, 2018.

The second season of Killjoys, which also stars Aaron Ashmore and Luke Macfarlane, premieres July 1st at 9pm on Syfy.
