Hamilton’s Jonathan Groff updates fans on Disney sequel; confirms recording for FROZEN 2 to start very soon.
It’s been 4 years since Frozen hit theaters and it’s still fresh in our minds, ripe with female empowerment, (almost too) catchy songs, and dazzling animation. Even knowing that Frozen 2 is going to happen, we’re excited to know that Jonathan Groff, who voiced Kristoff in the film, is going to be hitting the recording studio soon for the sequel.
When asked about it during a recent interview, he didn’t have any details about the storyline, but said this:
“I think I just got an email yesterday where I’m about to go into the recording studio in a couple of weeks, or maybe a month?” he said. “They’re about to really get into the thick of recording it, which I’m excited about. I don’t know anything about it yet other than I’m about to start recording my section of it.”
The directing duo Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, as well as the songwriting duo Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, are returning as well, which Groff had expressed excitement about:
“I’m just excited that I’m in it [laughs], you know? Excited to be in it and that creative team is also just so amazing, so I’m excited to get back in a room with them and play around.… The four of them are such an awesome team and I really, really love them.”
Since Frozen, Groff has been keeping very busy, appearing in both stage (Hamilton: The Musical, anyone?) and small screen (The Normal Heart, Glee, Looking). He will soon be starring in Netflix’s crime-drama Mindhunter as an FBI agent. But he can also be seen hanging about with apparent BFF Lin-Manuel Miranda, proven in the video below:
Frozen 2 is scheduled to hit theaters November 27, 2019.
