Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and the Mockingjay Cast Set Out to End Ebola

THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 1 actors rally the world to continue focusing on Ebola research and treatment.

If you follow Jeffrey Wright aka THE HUNGER GAMES’ Beetee on social media, you know he’s very passionate about both treating Ebola patients in West Africa and correcting the often exaggerated scare tactics used in the media regarding the disease.

In November, Wright held a contest in which contributors to the Ebola Survival Fund entered the win one whooping prize: The chance to attend THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 1 premiere in Los Angeles and meet the cast. Now here’s supporting the organization once again in a PSA video he produced featuring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Julianne Moore, and Mahershala Ali.

Here’s what Jeffrey had to say about THE HUNGER GAMES fandom and its responsibilities in relation to the epidemic:

“The Hunger Games allegory aligns with this Ebola outbreak in that we, the United States, the West, relative to this, is very much like the Capitol and Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, are very much like the outer districts. I thought, well, let’s play with that idea as a way of highlighting the stark contrast between we, the Capitol, and they, the outer districts, and using some of the constructs from the movie as a way of shining additional light on some of the contrasts.”

Even if Ebloa isn’t front and center on your local news stations anymore, it’s still a major disease affecting many, many people who are not yet medically equipped to deal with this fast-spreading epidemic. To help, you can donate to the Ebola Survival Fund.
