Hera Hilmar has signed on to play female lead Hester Shaw for Peter Jackson’s movie adaptation of MORTAL ENGINES.
Peter Jackson’s Mortal Engines is definitely moving along as it was announced earlier that the female lead has been cast. Hera Hilmar will play Hester Shaw, a girl who crosses paths with Tom Natsworthy, one of the other main protagonists.
Hera Hilmar recently appeared in the mini-series Harley and the Davidsons, and played Vanessa in the Starz two-season series DaVinci’s Demons. You can see her soon in limited theaters in the upcoming movie, The Ottoman Lieutenant, with Michael Huisman, Josh Hartnett, and Ben Kingsley.
Mortal Engines is set in a world many thousands of years in the future. Earth’s cities now roam the globe on huge wheels, devouring each other in a struggle for ever-diminishing resources. On one of these massive Traction Cities, Tom Natsworthy has an unexpected encounter with a mysterious young woman from the Outlands who will change the course of his life forever.
Hilmar joins Robert Sheehan and Ronan Rafferty, who will play Tom and Bevis Pod, respectively. Production for the movie is starts next month in New Zealand, and will be directed by Christian Rivers. The script was written by The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit screenplay trio of Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens.
Mortal Engines is set to roll into theaters on December 14, 2018.
