Marie Lu’s THE YOUNG ELITES has been optioned for film by Fox and Temple Hill Entertainment!
With an enticing fantasy world and a gritty story in which the hero is also the villain, LEGEND trilogy author made a splash last autumn with the release of THE YOUNG ELITES. Now, the seriously buzzed about YA series is in development as a film franchise!
The story focuses a renaissance-style fantasy world emerging from the wake of a deadly blood fever that leaves its survivors altered and scarred. Some survivors even develop powers. Believed to be abominations against mankind, these powerful “Young Elites” are viciously hunted by the Inquisition Axis.
After Adelina Amouteru’s powers emerge in a deadly fashion, she is adopted into a secret organization of Young Elites known as the Dagger Society. They wish to teach Adelina how to control her formidable powers, but Adelina doesn’t know if she wants to be controlled.
If you haven’t read this book yet, we suggest it. VERY STRONGLY.
Fox has recently dipped its toes into YA movie territory with THE MAZE RUNNER, THE FAULT IN OUR STARS and the upcoming PAPER TOWNS, all in conjunction with Temple Hill Entertainment producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen.
Lu’s other series, LEGEND, was optioned by CBS Films quite some time ago, but it seems the project has not been touched since.
