First Look at KUNG FU PANDA 3
It’s been a while since we’ve seen our favorite kung fu panda, Po. But now we have a glimpse of him and the story of what’s to be for him. In this first look at Kung Fu Panda 3, DreamWorks Animation introduces two new characters to the film.
In USA Today, it was revealed that Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) will voice Li, the father of Po, voiced by the returning Jack Black. Li has been in hiding in a secret panda village. We also meet Rebel Wilson’s Mei Mei, an aspiring panda ribbon dancer.
According to co-director Jennifer Yuh Nelson, “That is the most shockingly adorable place. There are nurseries filled with gaggles of baby pandas. A lot of how the pandas play was inspiration for the movie.”
As far as the storyline, Po will be facing two different threats this time, one dealing with the supernatural, and another dealing with what seems to be more of a personal matter, and with Po’s father in the mix, probably something more familial.
Many of the voice talents from the previous movies have returned to lend their voices to their characters, including Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, Gary Oldman, David Cross, Michelle Yeoh, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogan, Danny McBride, and James Hong. Another new talent to the franchise is Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), whose role has yet to be named.
Kung Fu Panda is scheduled for release on January 29, 2016.
