Emily Blunt In Negotiations To Star As Disney’s MARY POPPINS

Emily Blunt is on her way to portraying MARY POPPINS in Disney’s sequel!

Mary Poppins is getting a sequel and Disney is reportedly looking to Emily Blunt to play everyone’s favorite magical nanny!

The actress is working out the details to rejoin her Into The Woods director, Rob Marshall, and producers, John DeLuca and Marc Platt, for the sequel to the 1964 classic starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.

Variety has the scoop on the sequel’s premise:

Insiders confirm the new film will take place in Depression-era London 20 years after the first film and will take story lines from P.L. Travers’ children books focusing on Poppins’ continued adventures with the Banks family.

While to team seems enthusiastic to reunite, Blunt hasn’t committed due to scheduling. It seems the studio would like to begin production soon and the actress just announced she was pregnant with her second child. She was also pregnant during the filming of Into The Woods, but she or the studio may not be willing to use the same work-arounds (mainly, close-up shots or carrying bulky objects) for this film.

Disney has not set a release date for the film.

Would you like to see Emily Blunt as the new Mary Poppins? If not, who would be best for the role?
