Danai Gurira Joins The Cast of BLACK PANTHER

THE WALKING DEAD star will battle as a fierce Wakandan warrior in BLACK PANTHER!

The Black Panther portion of Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel brought about lots of great news, including characters, a casting confirmation, and a brand new casting announcement!

After learning that Michael B. Jordan will be playing villain Erik Killmonger and confirming that Lupito Nyong’o will be T’Challa’s love interest and badass warrior chick Nakia, Ryan Coogler gave fans a lovely surprise. He brought out the actress who will be playing the leader of the lady warrior unit known as the Dora Milaje: Danai Gurira!

After four seasons as Michonne on The Walking Dead, Danai Gurira is no stranger to kicking butt and taking names. However, her character Okoye will give her a fierce leadership arc that her other infamous character hasn’t fully embraced yet.

On screen, Danai has also had roles in Treme, My Soul To Keep, and Restless City, among other things. On the stage, she received a Tony nomination this year for her screenplay for Eclipsed, in which Lupita Nyong’o starred.

Black Panther hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
