CARS 3 Focuses On Lightning’s Veteran Status In Two Clips

The next generation baffles Lightning McQueen in CARS 3 clips!

If there’s one thing that’s clear about Lightning McQueen in Cars 3, it’s that he’s getting older.

We’ve already seen a clip that explains how the next generation of racecar has Lightning (voiced by Owen Wilson) baffled, but two new clips from the film show things in a more personal light as he interacts with other cars.

Lightning finds himself under the tutelage of trainer Cruz Ramirez (voiced by Cristela Alonzo) as he tries to gain more speed, but it turns out their first meeting is a sharp slap of reality for the racer as Cruz reveals her nickname for him.

Things are even harsher for Lightning went he tries to be sportsmanlike and congratulate rookie sensation Jackson Storm (voiced by Armie Hammer), only to be rebuffed and purposefully reminded that he’s old news in the industry.

Cars 3 hits theaters tomorrow, Friday, June 16, 2017.

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!
