REVIEW: THE FALL OF FIVE (novel) by Pittacus Lore

The Fall of Five by Pittacus Lore

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I literally just finished the book less than 5 minutes ago, so this review is more from first immediate reaction.

Let’s just say that it was a short and fast read for me. I haven’t been able to really start reading it until today and I pretty much finished the last 90% of it today.

The first part of this review does not contain spoilers.

I’ll just say that I did like the pace of the story and that I liked how the story was moving, and how the character interact with each other. You can definitely see each character’s strength and weaknesses in their personalities.

I found that I could finally tolerate Sarah in this book, where I didn’t feel so much for her in the last book, if I recall correctly.

I liked how there was something to like more than dislike about each of the Garde, including Nine. In regards to the introduction of characters that we haven’t seen before, I found them intriguing, although some might find some of the developments a little predictable. Still, the way things happen make the story exciting and it shouldn’t always be about if you can predict what happens next or who’s really what and such.

That’s what I liked about it.

As far as reading from the POVs of 3 of the characters, I found it more interesting than I did having read from them in the previous books.

One thing I realized is that there was a few things I had forgotten about from the The Rise of Nine, which you may want to re-read before getting into this book, at least for the last half of that book.

There’s a good amount of action, and some lovely/semi-romantic and sometimes humorous interactions between the characters, and maybe even some parts that may leave you with watery eyes, but not too much.

One thing that threw me off a bit, and it probably has more to do with me reading it on my Nook than the physical book, was that it would sometimes take me a little while to figure out which POV I was reading from in the beginning of each chapter. But I’m sure the physical book, as with the previous books, assigns a specific font-type for each character’s POV.

I really enjoyed the book, but I’d probably rate it a 3.75 stars more than a 4 stars type of book, for one simple reason that you can read in my (major) spoiler section in my full review at Goodreads.
