New HARRY POTTER Book to Be Released with Exhibition

The exhibition, entitled “Harry Potter: A History of Magic”, will launch in London in October, along with an accompanying book.

Step aside, Professor Binns: a new Harry Potter book is about to be released, and it’s taking the history of magic out of your classroom and into the hands of fans everywhere. The Scholastic book is called Harry Potter: A Journey through the History of Magic. The book and exhibition are both commemorating the twentieth anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (or Sorcerer’s Stone, the more familiar title for Americans).

Harry Potter: A Journey through the History of Magic

“Harry Potter: A History of Magic” is set to run from October 20-February at the British Library in London, after which it will open at the New York Historical Society in October 2018. The exhibition will reveal the surprising connections between J.K. Rowling‘s magical mythology and the real history of British folklore and legend that inspired it. Rare books and manuscripts will be unveiled from the British Library’s archives, in addition to never-before-seen drafts by Rowling and drawings by Harry Potter illustrator Jim Kay.

Harry Potter: A Journey through the History of Magic will be released on October 20th, the same day that the exhibition opens in London. Kay’s illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will be released a few weeks prior, on October 3rd.
