Epic Reads has a new excerpt from the much anticipated 3rd book in Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen series, King’s Cage. The book comes out in one month on February 7th. This excerpt has parts redacted to avoid any spoilers, can you guess who’s in the scene?

Looks like someone may have lost a hand!!! Can February 7th get here any sooner?

In this breathless third installment to Victoria Aveyard’s bestselling Red Queen series, allegiances are tested on every side. And when the Lightning Girl’s spark is gone, who will light the way for the rebellion?

Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her lethal mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven Calore continues weaving his dead mother’s web in an attempt to maintain control over his country—and his prisoner.

As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continue organizing, training, and expanding. They prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows. And Cal, the exiled prince with his own claim on Mare’s heart, will stop at nothing to bring her back.

When blood turns on blood, and ability on ability, there may be no one left to put out the fire—leaving Norta as Mare knows it to burn all the way down.

  1. .I love books and Victoria AVEYARD. My reading started at a young age of 3 reading Shakesphere and Dystopian slash Apocalyptic. Any author who has Dystopian or Apocolyptic is a favorite of mine! Not to mention I have a Dystopian novel to come out. I have read almost every Dystopian or Apocalyptic there is from the Giver ny Lois Lowry to Keira Cass’ The Selection and Cinder. It teaches us about war in the realest way possible after North America in the past is destroyed and known as the Ruins. I think what is happening in this scene is Sara Skonos is healing Cal’s hand. Well maybe not because I looked back and used some clues. I think the story is told in multiple people’s POV’s because Máre would not have that much to tell in Maven…er King Maven’s Cage. I think This is towards the END of the story when Cal saves Máre. Anyway, I don’t want to spoil anything else but one last thing, I think they are in Tuck because in Glass Sword, Silvers AND Newbloods were brought to Tuck. And in the passage it says, I can’t wait to see….and turn the corner. And the only Silvers in Tuck were the ones who didn’t believe the courts lies. Only a nice skin healer happens to be around.
