DC Comics Favorites Getting YA Novel Adaptations From Leigh Bardugo, Marie Lu, And More

Four DC heroes will get their own YA novels!

An exciting new deal between DC Entertainment, Warner Bros, and Random House is opening up a whole new form of entertainment in the DC universe: Young Adult novels.

Mashable exclusively reports that four New York Times bestselling authors will be bring DC favorites in the young adult world: Leigh Bardugo (The Grisha Trilogy, Six of Crows) will kick things off with Wonder Woman, Marie Lu (Legend, The Young Elites) will usher in Batman, Matt de la Peña (Mexican Whiteboy, Infinity Ring: Curse of the Ancients) will fly high will Superman, and Sarah J. Maas (Throne Of Glass series, A Court of Thorns and Roses) will top it all off with Catwoman.

Leigh Bardugo’s Wonder Woman novel, the first of the group, will be released about a month prior to the Wonder Woman movie in August 2017.

According to Random House, the novels will “will embrace themes of good vs. evil, coming-of-age romance, and superheroes from unexpected places who have the determination to achieve seemingly impossible dreams.”

This is not DC’s very first foray into Young Adult novels. Last year, Lois Lane novel Fallout hit shelves and its sequel, Double Down, is coming May 1st. However, this appears to be the first instance in which major characters are being presented in the YA sphere.

Marvel also has similar YA novels on shelves and in the works for their heroes by bestselling authors like Margaret Stohl and Shannon Hale.
