Cover Reveal: THE DEFIANT By Lesley Livingston

Fallon fights for her life in cover reveal for THE DEFIANT (THE VALIANT #2)!

Back in February, Lesley Livingston seriously got our attention with her novel The Valiant. The novel follows Fallon, a Celtic princess enslaved and sent to Rome and do battle as a gladiatrix. Fallon must not only fight well and survive, but she needs to win the favor of Emperor Julius Caesar himself and hopefully, her freedom.

Fallon’s journey continues in The Defiant, which follows the fighter as she enters Caesar’s gladiatrix academy, but soon realizes there are much darker threats on the horizon that could take down the whole empire.

In a letter on Penguin Teen, author Lesley Livingston says the rise of tough warrior women in pop culture like Wonder Woman kept her motivated while she worked on the sequel.

“The fact that there’s this new, feverish enthusiasm surrounding these wondrous women warriors right now is so exciting to me. It’s warmed my comic-loving geek heart and my history-loving nerd soul and wrapped my mythology-loving egghead in a great big hug.”

Now, the cover for The Defiant is here, depicting Fallon in the heat of battle against a warrior with a fiery weapon.

“The moment captured by the artist is both intensely personal and gloriously epic,” said Livingston. “It’s like a battle scene painted on an ancient vase. And yet, it’s so very timely.”

The Defiant hits bookshelves on February 13, 2018. You can pre-order it now via Amazon.

The darling of the Roman Empire is in for the fight of her life.

Be brave, gladiatrix… And be wary. Once you win Caesar’s love, you’ll earn his enemies’ hate.

Fallon was warned.

Now she is about to pay the price for winning the love of the Roman people as Caesar’s victorious gladiatrix.

In this highly anticipated sequel to THE VALIANT, Fallon and her warrior sisters find themselves thrust into a vicious conflict with a rival gladiator academy, one that will threaten not only Fallon’s heart – and her love for Roman soldier Cai – but the very heart of the ancient Roman Empire.

When dark treachery and vicious power struggles threaten her hard-won freedom, the only thing that might help the girl known as Victrix save herself and her sisters is a tribe of long-forgotten mythic Amazon warriors.

The only trouble is, they might just kill her themselves first.
